Was on a small boat in fine weather once a all it had was a wooden shelter on top and a motor. Weather went bad and waves went up. I was hanging on to a rope while the boat was diving below the waves, holding my breath at the front of the boat. Storms and water spouts appear from nowhere sometimes.

Wow. "January. One of the coldest months of the year." Good job writing the script, high school intern.

Because living at the southern point of Africa can also provide some unexpected rough seas and with harbours close to our city we often see stuff wash up. In the few years I've been here we have seen a few oil spills, oranges – thousands and thousands and thousands of oranges (apparently a few containers went swimming), flip flops and all kinds of stuff from ships that pass in the night like foreign juice bottles etc.

KIMFAB says:

The cruise ship people were terrified and feared for their life. In the Navy we called it Tuesday.
I have pictures of 60 ft waves that we hit on the USS Grand Canyon in the North Atlantic in late March before we went to condition zebra and shut everything down as it was getting worse. There was a tiny minesweeper next to us that would actually disappear when the waves hit. Excellent ride.

reading thru the comments, I was surprised to see no mention of the southern ocean – the roaring 40's as it were.

Is there another channel without the dude talking pointlessly? Constantly clicking the fast forward is annoying

How to make a 60 sec video in to a 12 min waste of time.

I don't normally get sea sick but I think if make the exception for these conditions
If you want to know what it was like to sail the smaller wooden sail ships way back. That's an easy answer. All you have to do is travel from central America around Florida and into England and name t the thousands of ships that never made it.

Gareth Owen says:

I don’t mind watching this. But looks so scary

marksapollo says:

Watching this doesn't scare so much as make me feel sea sick lol.. scary seeing that tsunami though, really is just a wall of water as far as you can see!

RDS Studio says:

Nature is fascinating, and terrifying at the same time. Horror and beauty at once.
