Joey “Kahana” Cadiz is a North Shore lifeguard, big wave surfer, and community leader dedicated to protecting lives and preserving Hawaiian culture. Joey has spent years honing his skills both as a lifeguard at Waimea Bay and as a fearless rider of the world’s most powerful waves.
Known for his discipline, consistency, and unwavering commitment to his craft, Joey approaches training as a lifestyle—combining physical fitness, mental strength, and a deep spiritual connection to the ocean. Beyond the surf, he is passionate about giving back to his community through initiatives that promote health, sustainability, and cultural education.
Joey’s journey embodies the spirit of Aloha and the courage of watermen like Eddie Aikau, whose legacy inspires his work on and off the water. Whether rescuing swimmers, riding giants, or teaching the next generation, Joey represents the best of Hawaii’s ocean culture.
I’ve Been filming Joey for the past six months and I can say this is just a short look into the philosophy of how he lives his life of discipline and consistency.
More to come.
