Biggest Wave Ever Surfed

I made my way into cinematography shooting wakeboarding videos a long, long time ago. So I’ve always enjoyed making sports stuff.

But now that I surf alot more than I wakeboard, I’ve come to love the lure of the big swells. The whole beach just comes alive and people everywhere flock to the spectacle. It’s something I always love to shoot. This cyclone in particular offered up the goods, as we, for the first time in a loooong time, had offshore winds coupled with the bump in swell.

This was captured across a quick morning and afternoon shoot. I have no idea who the surfers are. Please tag them if you do. 🙏

An unforgettable passage from St. Barts to Sint Maarten in wild, squally weather! 🌧️💨 With steady 30+ knot winds and big waves, Mirage pushed hard, even almost broaching at one point. Surfing down the waves at over 10 knots, this was one of those rare, electrifying sails that remind me why I love the ocean. Straight past Île Fourchue and into Simpson Bay – what a ride!
