Channel Islands “Surf Accessories” review by Noel Salas Ep. 10

This video review Channel Islands “Surf Accessories” by Noel Salas is about the latest Channel Islands gear.. Noel goes into detail about traction, fins, leashes, and surfboard bags.

Noel gives a quick overview of the new CI quiver for this Spring and and Summer. The Black and White is Dane’s latest signature standard short board designed by Britt Merrick.

This is what the CI website has to say about the new Black and White.
An all around, high performance shortboard designed for down the line speed and easy rail-to-rail transitions, the Black & White is based on a favorite hand shape Britt Merrick made Dane Reynolds for Santa Barbara area point breaks. Dane related its feel to a good MBM.
The Black & White has a fairly low entry rocker, a staged flat-ish section between the feet, and an accelerated kick out the tail. A single concave runs the length of the board, is deepest near the front fins and shallows into a hint of vee exiting the tail block.
A flat deck design, the Black & White offers improved flex characteristics, a solid under-your-feet feel, and full rails. The board should be ridden about your same height to 2″ longer than you are tall. Because of the flat deck ride the board 1/8” thinner than your normal shortboard to keep the same general volume.
The Black & White is suitable for most surfers in most types of surf where a shortboard is appropriate.

Stay tuned as the next reviews are coming quickly starting with the New Flyer, Sampler in the new Flexbar technology, the B&W, Twin Fin, and the Hoglet.

Ripped Dave says:

Will you ever review something that is not from CI?
It make it seem almost biased that you are promoting only one board brand and accessories

Hey always watching your reviews, you do a great job. I was just wondering if you would recommend a black and white as a better wave board to compliment my peregrine. My usual dims are 6 x 18 5/8 x 2 1/4 at +- 26L. I have a 6 x 18 3/4 x 2 1/8 26L peregrine and I love it. It works surprisingly well in smaller waves and is really fun when the waves have some juice to. That being said it can be a little sticky in the pocket trying to go vertical real quick or when trying to pivot real quick. I was thinking maybe order a black/white at 18 5/8 vs 18 3/4 which is what my peregrine is. I was just wondering if that sounds like a safe bet for better waves. I was thinking since the Black/white has a little more rocker and no channels that it will work better in the pocket and since I'm planning on ordering it a tiny bit narrower it will perform even better when the waves have some juice. Volume wise they are both identical so float shouldn't be an issue. Just wondering if you thought I was on the right track trying to get the dims right for my B+W. Thanks!
– side note: I'm an advanced surfer I'm just super picky when I order new boards, I just haven't had the chance to see the new B+W model in person so I'm kind of going off what I'm used to riding and the reviews I've been able to find online. Thanks again brother!

I have a 5'5 average joe by Channel Islands and am looking to get a board that is more high performance and for chest to head or more than that surf. What would you recommend? I have been looking at the peregrine and the black and white. Thanks from Delaware!

Hey man great video, can you do a video on what you've got in your fin wallet and how you would use them ? as in the sticker for dings, trace mount, liquid bandage ?

Hi Noel, dig your reviews.  I'm looking at that fin/stuff organizer for my go box :)Throwing out an idea, take it or leave it…would you do an episode on you?  I don't Instagram so only know you through this venue.  I'd like to hear more about your personal background (I know you were/are pro), and what is behind Surf Show and Tell (mission statement, Channel Islands relationship, etc).  Looking forward to the Twinny episode!

luke Armstrong says:
