Surfing is all about taking things to their limits and sometimes exceeding them by leaps and bounds….When I came across this video and got a glimpse of the boards the first thing to come to mind (if you have one) was the Alaia shape. I found myself intrigued to say the least and fascinated by the actual looks of what they are experimenting with! What strikes me as funny, is tha many will approach these types of shapes, as "just another extreme type of board" when that, is the wrong way to look at them, you have to open yourself to riding a wave, get rid of your preconceptions and just let go and flow with the board, the wave and the moment! It's a total shiftchange in the mentality of surfing, that so far, has been rarely disturbed by "mainstream surfing." Of course these types of boards are not for everyone, but for those who seek something "outside of the box" in surfing, this might be an option to feed your surf soul, with! Would I ride one? In a heart beat of a moment, with no reservations what so ever! Awesome video!

How about a spring center board fin with a hinged stomp pad to engage for those carving bottom turns and cutbacks….

*others, and style. I hate when I use bad grammar and misspelling.

Christian Canache says:

Derek Hynd surfs finless self shaped boards on dessert slabs and other waves of consequence. So yeah, other are doing it, and going harder. That being said, I like their log stile, and liked the Marshal segment on one California day.

Hullo says:

What's with the chromatic aberration in so many of these shots? Is it stylized or did Vice's camera crew make a mistake?
