SHAPING
0:29 shlepping the blank to the shaping room
0:45 trim blank to right length
0:48 choose a template and trace out the edges
0:53 saw rough shape along pencil line
1:03 using a planer – refining shape, removing more foam
1:15 checking for symmetry
1:24 shaping the edges, with planer
1:30 smoothing all surfaces with power sander, sandpaper
1:38 checking the dimensions again

GLASSING
2:04 add one layer of fiberglass on bottom, 3 inch overlap
2:14 one layer of resin, in future surfboard color
2:30 fold overlap, let dry, grind corners flat
2:36 flip board around, trim overlap
2:37 add 2 layers of fiberglass to the top, with resin in between
also the company logo (on ricepaper, which becomes invisible)
2:48 adding a layer of resin to the top
3:05 another layer of resin on both sides of board
3:09 cutting finboxes with router
3:24 insert finbox

FINAL TOUCH
3:40 sanding fin slot
3:50 sanding board
3:58 painting pinlines
4:15 finishing coat of resin
4:25 polishing for high-gloss finish
4:45 adding a fin

hi i just seen your surf board making video its very. just a random question. i am a signmaker & have fibreglassed quite a few times, i would like to start making signs with embedded graphics for long term outdoor use. can you tell me if i can use vinyl graphics then fibreglass rolls & resin if so is their a particular type of matt & resin that i should be using.cheers j

i dont live there but the the polythylene foam you can order and figerglass is usually found in boat shops along with resin
