Mega Swell – Uluwatu, 25 July 2018

This was the second huge swell in the space of a week to hit Bali, and it was even bigger than the first. Probably the biggest waves seen at Uluwatu in recent years and definitely the biggest I’ve ever witnessed firsthand …anywhere.

The guy towing caught some incredibly long rides covering almost the entire length of the reef, and there were a few hardy paddle guys giving it a go, dodging the massive, shifty clean up sets and the river like sweep.

This is the gear I used to make this video:

– The Canon 1200D or in the USA it’s called the Rebel T5. This is the cheapest Canon DSLR you can get: https://amzn.to/2B0Uyc1
– The lens is a Canon 55-250mm lens which I bought for around US$300: https://amzn.to/2B1WlNU
– I used this Coman tripod: https://amzn.to/2B3EUfT
– I replaced the Coman tripod head with this one from Benro: https://amzn.to/2Mr9IeW
– To edit the video I used Adobe Premiere Pro. It’s really great because there is so much content on YouTube on how to use it: https://amzn.to/2MJ74hx

Surfed it in '87 but not THAT big. Amazing wave and so down the line. Sometimes it even grows bigger as you ride it! This is underrated for a big wave! It's pretty amazing and so fast!
