Fear is something every bodyboarder faces at some point, whether you’re tackling bigger waves or just starting out.
The thrill of riding waves comes with its challenges, and fear of the ocean is a natural part of the journey. During our El Salvador bodyboard camp, we worked with Renee, an inspiring woman from the U.S., to help her overcome her fears. By talking through her fears and sharing practical tips to refine her approach and technique, we were able to help her build confidence and manage her emotions in the water.
We were also fortunate to have our good friend, Dr. Steve, a counseling psychologist with expertise in sport and performance psychology, join us. He helped us understand Renee’s challenges, rationalize her fears, and provided the tools needed to overcome the mental barriers she was facing.
Whether you’re just starting out or pushing your limits, fear doesn’t have to hold you back. Watch the video and share in the comments how you’ve worked through your own fears while bodyboarding.
