This paddle by BPS has been designed as a high performance paddle featuring an easily adjustable carbon fiber shaft, a super smooth carbon fiber handle, a fiberglass and nylon composite blade and even comes complete with a free full paddle bag to protect it from scratches, chips and damage during travelling. This paddle is a great choice for those who take their paddling pretty seriously but don’t want to spend a significant amount of money on a full carbon paddle. Paddlers love that the composite blade does not chip or get damaged easily (as full carbon blades do), and the blade is very forgiving if accidentally making contact with your SUP when paddling. And of course like all paddles from Surf and Snow this paddle is guaranteed to float in both salt water and fresh water for 12 months (we always suggest people buy paddles that float!). Paddlers love this paddles super easy to use adjustment mechanism – it only takes seconds to set your own length preference – and then it stays locked in place until you change it. The paddle extends out to 2150mm for taller paddlers but reduces right down to 1760mm in length for shorter paddlers, storage and travelling (great for going easily in the back of vehicles). The paddles blade face is 420mm long and 215mm wide at its widest point. Thanks for looking at a product from our store – Surf and Snow Warehouse. STORY: Australia’s Jamie Mitchell on Tuesday (December 20) became the first winner of Portugal’s big wave Nazare Challenge, the newest addition on the Big Wave Tour.
It was 39 year-old Mitchell’s first Big Wave Tour win and he owned every heat riding 10 to 15 metre surf.
“What an amazing day just to be here and what an amazing place just to be involved in the first one is special but to make the final and be able to win, it’s just like blowing my mind right now,” Mitchell said after finishing the competition.
Mitchell has been practicing at Portugal’s Nazare for the past few months and earned the highest scores in all three heats.
The brutal waves of Nazare provoked their share of wipe-outs highlighting the dangers involved in surfing the massive waves.
“Today was next level, it was survival, it was just heavy,” Mitchell said. “I have seen Nick Lamb, all these guys take horrendous wipe-outs all around the world and Nick was messed up out the back and I was like, ‘Hey, you probably shouldn’t catch another wave.’ Yeah, I mean it was gnarly. I am stoked. I want to dedicate this to my wife and my young little daughter who is 15 months. They are in California at the moment,” Mitchell added.
Mitchell topped the table with a score of 23.94, followed by Brazil’s Carlos Burle with 13.00. Portuguese Joao de Macedo came in third scoring 10.84.
