Compilation of the world’s biggest waves ever surfed! By a woman World record waves around 80ft (20m) rogue waves, largest waves world record Biggest wave in the world Large wave, swell storm tsunami, jaws, teahupoo, Nazare
Fear is always present in a 50-foot wave. Fear is the best way of managing the risk of paddling for a huge wave face, which doesn’t tell you what is going to happen and how it is going to break.
The pioneers of big wave surfing started to eye impossible killer rides in the 1940’s. In the 1960’s, waves like Pipeline and Waimea increased the popularity of paddling into new wave heights. Going over the falls was the daily menu.
Tatiana Weston-Webb (born May 9, 1996) is a Brazilian/American surfer from Kauai, Hawaii. She was the only rookie on the WCT (professional surfing) (World Championship Tour) in 2015. Weston-Webb wears jersey number 9 and her 2016 ‘CT rank is number 4
Within two weeks of her birth in Brazil, Weston-Webb and her parents moved back to Hawaii in an effort to get Tatiana dual citizenship. Her mother (Tanira Weston-Webb) is Brazilian and was a professional body boarder and her father is American and has always been around surfing and enjoys the ocean life. She learned to surf when she was 8 years old by watching her older brother Troy. In 2015 she secured a spot in the World Championship Tour.
Maya Reis Gabeira (born April 10, 1987) is a Brazilian big wave surfer.
In 2009, Gabeira won the ESPY award for Best Female Action Sports Athlete. Later that year, Gabeira surfed the biggest wave ever by a female when she successfully rode a 14 metres (46 ft) wave at Dungeons, a big-wave surf spot in South Africa.
In 2010, she was awarded with the Billabong Girls Best Overall Performance Award for a record four years in a row.
On October 28, 2013, Gabeira lost consciousness and nearly drowned while surfing a massive wave near NazarƩ, Portugal, caused by the St Jude storm; she was saved by her fellow Brazilian big-wave surfer Carlos Burle, ending up in the hospital
Gabeira’s current sponsors include Billabong and Red Bull.
Bethany Meilani Hamilton-Dirks (born February 8, 1990) is an American professional surfer who survived a 2003 shark attack in which her left arm was bitten off but who ultimately returned toāand was victorious ināprofessional surfing. She wrote about her experience in the 2004 autobiography Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board. In April 2011, the feature film Soul Surfer was released.

A lifetime of study under the Channel Islands name: all in the family business
Imagine arriving into this world with the last name of Merrick. Imagine being a kid and looking through the door of your dadās shaping bay, planer at work, and watching for hours the creation of boards for surfers like Shaun Tomson, Davey Smith, and young Tommy Curren. Then imagine deciding in your late teens to take up the family craft yourself. āHeād show me a little, tiny curve on the rail,ā says Channel Islands shaper and designer Britt Merrick about father Al. āāThatās going to catch water right there,ā heād tell me. But I couldnāt even see it. It was demanding, but really good for me. I feel super privileged now to have been able to shape with my dad for years and years.ā Our newest episode of In The Shaping Bay profiles Britt and his Channel Islands compound in Santa Barbara, where he shapes high-performance equipment for a new generation of CI teamriders like Dane Reynolds, Conner Coffin, Zeke Lau, and more. Just over the hill sits the ultimate testing grounds, the Queen of the Coast herself. From there, a short drive takes you to the Carpinteria CI factory, staffed by a team who meticulously upholds its standards to match the same priorities of Al ā and now, of Britt ā since the family founded the company in 1969: to allow surfers to do exactly what they always imagined on a wave.
