The Wedge went XL on May 17, 2023 in Newport Beach! Triple overhead sets displayed big wave surfing at California’s heaviest shorebreak. Were any of the set waves Surfline Twenty Foot Plus worthy?

100 foot waves?!!! 🤯🤯🤯

We went on a day trip to Nazaré, Portugal. A beach town a 1.5 hour drive from Lisbon that’s known for it’s whopping great waves 🌊

The ‘big wave season’ runs between October – March and you can check just how big the waves are gonna be for the days ahead on nazarewaves.com 👩‍💻

If you’re lucky enough to be in the area when there’s ‘Giant Waves’ which reach heights of 20-30 metres, keep checking to see if the Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge gets announced. It could be at any point between now and the end of the season.

🏄‍♀️ It’s a competition where professional surfers will try their luck against huge waves – I would have LOVED to have witnessed it with my own eyes.

It’s also worth saying that Nazaré is just a 2 hour drive down from Porto as well – so it’s definitely one to keep checking on if you’re planning a trip already and this sounds right up your street 🔎
