Crowds gathered in Hawaii for The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational, also known as the “Super Bowl of surfing,” causing some chaos.

Towering waves crashed into a crowd at a famous big wave surf event in Hawaii’s Waimea. #shorts

Biggest Paddle Day in quite sometime as Jaws / Peace goes off. Albee Layer, Billy Kemper, Torrey Meister, Tyler Larronde, Kai Paula, Paige Alms, Ian Walsh, Fransisco Porcella, Nathan Florence, Steve Roberson, Othmane Choufani and more take on massive waves.

After the passing of big wave surfer marcio ‘mad dog’ freire (one of the first guys that started paddling Jaws early on ) a lot of the surfers out there were surfing with his spirit in their minds and everyone charged in honor of Marcio.

It is a dream, more than a competition of who catches the biggest wave in a championship. We are more than enjoying God’s creation, his nature and how he made the perfect pointbreaks, reefbreaks and sandbanks. He created the Surf just like all that there is. The Sea will always be a part of us and those who feel part of it.

The waves come and go, but I have never seen waves as perfect as in this place, Hossegor and in the Basque Country. It was a wonderful trip, where we got to know French surfing, the culture and the way they live.

Without a doubt these were some of the best waves I have surfed in my 21’s, and it would never have been beautiful if it hadn’t been with my wife.
