Pipeline Free Surf 12-13-14. Lapo Coutinho BRA devoured by huge green-eyed monster at 1:32.
With a quickly increasing swell the organizers of the Triple Crown of Surfing called off the Pipe Masters competition for safety reasons. Too wildly inconsistent for the pros but improving soon after for the locals’ free surf session. Many consider this swell to be one of the biggest to grace our shores in years.

Created by Sofia to share her professional surf experience and develop talented young people regardless of their social background, helping prepare them for life’s opportunities and challenges.
The three-year project offers a full scholarship and a unique opportunity to 10 teenagers aged 10 to 15. Proyecto Sofia Mulanovich has begun its search for participants in November/December 2014, with the program launching in January 2015.
The recruiting process to enter the academy was divided into two stages: the Searching Days and the Scouting Camp.
The Searching Days were held during selected weekends in November as the project identifies possible participants. During this stage Sofia and her selection committee chose 15 high potentials to progress to the more intense Scouting Camp.
The Scouting Camp are taking place in early December with the potential participants residing in the Proyecto Sofia Mulanovich Beach House for one night and two days. During the Scouting Camp the selection committee will further analyze the potential of each candidate.
About Sofia:
Sofia Mulanovich, the first Peruvian surfer who won the ASP World Tour (2004) and the first South American who gained the World Title (2004), creates now together with Swatch a Surf Academy for young Peruvian surf talents in Punta Hermosa, Peru.
Sofia Mulanovich decides to share her experience to teenagers in a three year program – a full scholarship and a unique opportunity for the kids.
It combines top-level, competitive surf-training with life lessons anchored in the key areas of environmental protection, healthy living and fair play. ”My aim is to give the Proyecto members the very best support, through my team, so they can grow and develop and seize life’s opportunities”, declared Sofia Mulanovich.
10 high-potential teenagers and their families gathered in the “beach house”, to show media their determination to chase and live their dreams.
The “Surf-Stars of the future” were chosen from 67 hopeful applicants by Sofia Mulanovich and her selection committee.
