O recorde da maior onda surfada na história pertence ao brasileiro Rodrigo Koxa, com 24,38m de altura, em novembro de 2017. Antes de Koxa, o título era do havaiano Garrett McNamara, com 23,77m de altura, também em novembro, mas de 2011.
