Reblogged 2 years ago from www.youtube.comLadies and gentlemen, wave season 22/23 has officially started. We present the top 10 of the first XL swell of the winter.
The forecasts lined up and Praia do Norte lit up, receiving not only the biggest waves in the world but also the best big wave surfers!
The Portuguese lineup was seen after a long time loaded with Jetskis and surfers in search of records, both personal and world. In search of improvement, of going beyond the limits. The sheds of Porto do Abrigo were seen with a lot of activity since in the past 3 days the surfers from different parts of the planet finished arriving.
the swell? Clean, from minor to major with a slight offshore breeze that at times, with the correct tides, let us see sets of between 40 and 60 feet, a swell that met the expectations of a first swell, so that surfers grab their good waves, test the bikes, their own limits and warm up but in “Nazare Mode”.
A very varied top 10 with very good waves from different teams.
Among those selected, the Laurano/Dupont duo was seen very in tune and with a lot of activity, that of the also local NicVonRupp and Pedro Scooby always among the outstanding ones finding good lefts on peak 01 as well as Lucas Chumbo who always adds some pirouette that makes the difference. To the “Mystery Surfer” Jose Carlos Molestina (who also took the rescue of the swell-which you will see soon online) with a good right on peak two, the same peak where the last skimboard world champion Lucas Fink took the right more long of the day closing it to the best skimboarder style.
It is also worth noting the Cotty/Skudin duo who also took a very good left hand and the legend of Carlos Burle! The only one with two waves nominated in our Top 10 and one for each side!
Finally, someone who left us breathless was Nic Lamb: While the bikes moved through the lineup looking for peaks, a lone rower began to appear from inside the cliff, who little by little was locating himself and with a lot of patience I waited for a right that It arrived almost at the end of the day as if it were by special delivery, right where he was. It seemed that the airdrop was not going to let him finish the wave but Nic Lamb was able to keep his balance and ride the wave to the end. Luckily (or whatever) the wave ended a few meters from nothing more and nothing less than the Alemao de Maresias who once again demonstrated what the codes are like in the water, picked him up and took him to a safe place.
I hope you enjoy it and that the next swell you can be keeping us company on the Cliff and enjoying this incredible show of giant waves!

Reblogged 2 years ago from www.youtube.comWhen wind moves across the ocean’s surface, it causes little ripples that eventually grow into waves as time and distance go on. Waves become unstable and start to break when they get to shallow water, which can put a lot of hydrodynamic pressure on the species that live there. I realize that occasionally they are lovely when viewed from a safe distance, but it’s also a good idea to check for shifting weather, waves, and tides, especially when you have plans to visit the beach or take a boat ride for pleasure across the ocean.
And even those precautions might not be sufficient because mother nature occasionally demonstrates her power by hurling waves over the deck and onto beaches all around the world.
Today, you’ll get to see just what I meant by the force of mother nature. From areas that stir up the water to the most terrifying waves ever surfed, here are “20 Biggest Waves Ever Recorded On Camera.”
