NEW WORLD RECORD AT NAZARÉ ? | VON FROTH

Coming to the end of the season right now, it’s been a long season.
Big, Clean…. probably the best so far!

We had over 20 Big waves sessions this year, everyone is hurting, and everyone is broken.
l usually never get hurt, but this year I bruised my ribs badly at the WSL Challenge, made a huge effort to surf 2 weeks later on the historic Feb 25th Swell and on my Second Wave I fractured a part of my shoulder.

Every year there is the same talk. And honestly, this is the worst part about Surfing Big waves. It’s when everyone starts pulling out their measurement tapes and the battle starts.
Who Surfed the biggest wave? Who rode it deeper? That’s not the part I like the most, but we are in a competitive sport, and that requires a winner. What I feel is wrong is that less and less there is a rule book on how waves should be measured. Everyone. just screams as loud as they can and those who scream the loudest get the publics’ attention.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments what are your thought on this matter!

Maya Gabeira's Triumphant Return to Nazaré

» More XXL big wave action right here: http://win.gs/FilmersAtLarge
On October 9, 2015, at exactly midday, beneath the 12 chimes of the bells of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré, Maya Gabeira rode her first wave back at Praia do Norte, where three years earlier she experienced the roughest moment of her career.

Bulldozed by a massive wave, Gabeira broke her ankle instantly, but that was the least of her troubles. Two more waves tossed her around as her body went limp and she slipped in and out of consciousness before fellow Brazilian Carlos Burle was able to rescue her. The scenes were shocking and were watched in horror around the world.

All of which brings us to the courageous clip above. With much physical and psychological preparation, along with two hernia surgeries to her back, Gabeira got back to the place that once changed her life forever. As naturally as you’d expect from someone who’s surfed the biggest waves on the planet for the past decade, the 28-year-old didn’t have any problems dropping into 10ft waves, but that was only her first step.

VINICIUS DOS SANTOS Surfing ANOTHER WORLD RECORD WAVE⁉ (Wave Size 97,3ft / 29,68m ¿YES or NO? ) 🤯

Surely you have already heard him name and much more this last week. This is Vinicious dos Santos, the Brazilian who is being talked about a lot, for his right hand surfed one of the last swells of this season of giant waves in Nazaré.
According to many media sources, his wave (along with Lucas Chumbo’s) would surpass Rodrigo Koxa’s world record for the largest wave ever surfed.
Vinicious has been having good seasons in Praia do Norte. Last season a right that I paddling had a lot of repercussion. It was a gigantic wave, with an airdrop that left more than one person without air.
This season he had one of the heaviest wipeouts that left him out of the water for a long time, but that same swell and just a couple of waves prior to that heavy wipeout surfed what was the biggest right of his life .
But will it be enough to dethrone Rodrigo Koxa and to overcome Lucas Chumbo’s GIANT left? The weather… or rather: the specialists will say… At the moment the specialists said that the size of this wave is size 97.3 foot or 29.68 meters. What do you think of the size of this wave? leave your opinion below 👇
