Surfing the 100ft swell at Nazare | 60 Minutes Australia

The largest and meanest waves in the world slam into a headland in Portugal called Nazaré. Such is this monster break it often breaks those brave – or crazy – boardriders who attempt to take it on.

Reporter: Liam Bartlett
Producer: Nick Greenaway

For forty years, 60 Minutes have been telling Australians the world’s greatest stories. Tales that changed history, our nation and our lives. Reporters Liz Hayes, Allison Langdon, Tara Brown, Charles Wooley, Liam Bartlett and Tom Steinfort look past the headlines because there is always a bigger picture. Sundays are for 60 Minutes.

Biggest Wave Ever Surfed at Uluwatu? [July 25th, 2018]

I wouldn’t say it’s the biggest, though it”s probably the longest wave ever surfed at Uluwatu with a 90+ second ride (I missed the first 5 to 7 seconds of the tow-in). Let me know what you think below….the wave, the ride or my brilliant commentary while running thru the Blue Point restaurant to see the end of the ride haha.

a big Cheers to Andrei Ovchinnikov https://www.instagram.com/dolphinsurfandrei/ for an amazing ride….well done!

This was a day for the memory books as this was the biggest swell to hit Indonesia in the past 40+ years.

I paddled out in the afternoon and the river-like current made it near impossible to be in the right spot for bombs like this one. My constellation prize….I took the current and surfed Padang Padang for the evening session.

If you find a video of a longer wave ever ridden out at Uluwatu, be sure to post it in the comments below.

Cheers from Uluwatu, Bali…
