Back Door, Off The Wall & Pipeline All Experience Perfect Conditions @ The Same TIME!

The North Shore Oahu experienced some perfect conditions. Winds were light off shore. Surfers and bodyboarders alike made epic barrels with some gnarly wipeouts as well. Dreamiest conditions of 2024 so far!

The WSL Big Wave season is the time of year when humans push the boundaries of what’s possible on a surfboard. In the sport’s premier paddle-only event at Jaws and tow surfing challenge at Nazaré, these men and women drop in and charge the impossible for the ride of a lifetime.

The North Coast really turned on thanks to the waves produced by Storm Isha. Overhead barrelling offshore conditions at Whiterocks pleased the local surfing community, stoke levels were reached, much needed after a terrible year of waves in 2023. Great surfing from Scottsy Mcscottsy, Ethan Hill, Cameron Leighton, Jamie Russell, Michael Jonston, Ricky Bell, Gary McCall and the Singlefin wizard.

Lets hope for a much better 2024 for waves here

With a win at the Nazaré Tow-in Challenge and many gigantic sessions under his belt, big wave rider, Nic Von Rupp, now pays tribute to Nazaré’s Praia do Norte, the most challenging surf spot on the planet, and a place with the power to make or break boards, egos, careers, and necks with equally undisputed ease. This episode of Portugal Back-to-Back is a collection of the best and worst moments Nic has experienced in this fascinating, puzzling and terrifying surf spot.
