Hi Benny was trying to figure out my size for the fcs 2 performer carbon fins, im 68 kg and was wondering if i got the small would that restrict me more than if i got the medium, could i still feel confident using the small on 4-6ft waves knowing the fins would still hold

Cheers Benny

cthis is very well explained ??. thank you very much for that. could you maybe do a video about a split keel fin setup? In heard about it but i dont understand in what conditions it would be an advantage over a normal quad setup

martysgarden says:

That was really helpful, we have gone so farm with board design,,maybe fin design is the next future in the new surfboard generation.
Thanks

thank you so much for this! I'm actually doing research on boay keels/skegs and I know that the fin keel will work best but I didn't find an adequate explanation for the physics involving the geometry of the fim. Do you have any suggestions/precautions regarding applying your explanation to a small 15 foot, flat hull, canoe-like boat?

Simon Zenner says:

Hi Benny, I read that fins are usually mounted on a surfboard in a 4 to 8 degree angle (except for the centre fin of course). Could you explain how this angle affects your surfing? I'm trying to shape my first board. Anyways, thanks for all the vids, I have learned a lot from you!

IchabodSpoonbill says:

Very good description of fins. That helped me a lot, and I'm a paddleboarder. Thank you.

Excellent video. The comparisons were spot-on and really helped me grasp rash term way easier. Simply awesome.

David Wicke says:

Thanks for the information on the fins.  Can you help explain the different configurations?   Quad vs. single fin? Etc.

MegaHowtoMan says:

Hi Patrick Pugh, others will be able to give you a better answer here – I'm a very occasional longboarder!

Cheers,
Benny

Patrick Pugh says:

So why do some longboards have 1 fin and some have more. I just got a new longboard the modern blackfish and it has 1 big fin and 2 smaller.
