Courtney Brown says:

i would die while training not to do.

Adventure Squad says:

I once was under for 30seconds according to my watch, but I couldn't hold my breath because I accidentally inhaled the water so as I was under I was coughing and choking and I was drowning and crying lol, I'd rather be burned alive then to do that again.

Rick Lloyd says:

I survived a three wave hold down in Puerto Escondido. Has anyone else done that? I would love to know or hear their story. I was very lucky. I thought it was game over. I survived & came out with a helluva story.

HuskDieciet says:

For my first time getting hit by a big wave I literally shat myself but the second time I was held down then I start flipping and then went back up to surface. But my friend teached me what to do when there's a big wave. Don't run away and just turn around with your back facing the wave and hold ur breath until the wave comes , it sometimes works but mostly it works. And it feels like jumping in slowmotion

tireurdejoints platrier says:

Alejandro Arndt Jack says:

I've been held down for 20 seconds and it felt so horrible, can't imagine what it's like to stay 1:30 under a wave

hulagan808 says:

Been surfing big waves in Hawaii for decades now. The number one thing I've learned is that whether or not you got a breath or not, or get the wind knocked out of you, you have five minutes. What creates that panicked feeling is the build up of co2, not the lack of oxygen. I become a happy little piece of seaweed with no care or interest in the amount of lung burn or rag dolling I get. I mentally check out, for the full body enema. Time perception is weird on a hold down. I just stay relax. Practice holding your breath with kids jumping on you with no breath with the hose full blast in your face.

LEFI Dope says:

I was in Hawaii and when I was far a big wave I was like "oh shit." So I tried running away.

Yukino Neno says:

ive been held down twice i was very little and tbh it was only a rip tide but my mother helped me the first time the secound time i thought it was the end my breath was gone i opened my eyess and pushed and pushed to stand till i finaly did

Cat Christian says:

I went to a beach with big waves and it wiped me out, and as somebody who's terrified of the ocean I pretty much almost had a panic attack under the water. it flipped me around and when I got up I was a mess and I literally turned around to fix myself and another wave fucking took me out and I swallowed a lot of water. never realized how strong the water is.

Joe 90 says:

Its a well known fact that surfers are gay.

mokotramp says:

You also need to invest in some sun block! Your skin is fucked! Melanoma city!

Kyle Flewelling says:

Why don't they where life jackets when surfing that way they wouldn't get stuck under water?

TheOcean Cowboy says:

The thing about surviving these hold downs is we gotta get a good gasp of air in before being driven down. Several times I have gone down face first and quickly, with little time to breathe in. Maybe this training gives us 2 minutes at the most.

Cristian Alejandro RIOLFI says:

excelente

Twosuperfriends says:

I dont know reqlly

TheMrBigBadBrad says:

If you dive under a wave by few meters before it gets to you will you feel it's force still or will you be okay?

Red Nova says:

Absolutely awesome

Isak kerman says:

i can hold my breath in high heartrate in the naberhood of 40 seconds and relaxed probably close to 2 minutes, and i havent had any underwater training and to top it all of i do not like swimming so i do not get that training pretty much ever
