[Updated] Tsunami hits New Zealand after Earthquake | Nov 2016

A tsunami has hit New Zealand after a powerful earthquake struck the country’s South Island, with the country’s prime minister confirming two deaths.
Thousands of people on the country’s east coast fled after a warning to move to higher ground.
The quake, which measured 7.8 in magnitude, led to waves up to two metres high, including in the Kaikoura area.

Stupidity has no limits, as we can see. The author of the video probably heard that there was a danger of tsunami, so he/she went to the beach to watch it. I dont know but if the wave caught him and drove him to the open sea or hit his body against an object and he got hurt, I wouldnt send any rescuers to help him. Why should they risk their lives for an idiot??? Everybody in the world has seen videos of the tsunami in Japan, so people know what a tsunami is and what it can do. So only an idiot can go to the shore to see it with their own eyes. It always surprises me that there can be a person going to the beach when there is a danger of tsunami.

The frustrating thing is that whenever we have an earthquake they make wild predictions that never eventuate. In this case they predicted 5m waves! even though the only major tsunamis (Indonesia, Japan) were caused by 9+ strength quakes way offshore, so the waves had time and distance to build.

The end result is that people will start to ignore these wildly wrong predictions, as earthquakes aren't rare in NZ. We really do need better science.
