Took my surfboard to Tahiti on a family trip when I was a kid in hopes that there might be some waves before the better breaks there were "discovered." Met a local named Kong or similar who asked me if I wanted to go surf his favorite break. So we rode down the coast then caught a boat out to the reef. It was about 6-8 feet, and though I was fairly new to the sport โ just a few years โ I thought easy-peasy. Paddled for first wave, turned at the bottom, and then watched the reef in front of me go completely dryโฆ
